Additional Benefits

Pensions

At William Jackson Food Group we have always been strong believers in the benefits of building up a pension for retirement, over and above anything which the State will provide. For over 50 years the company has therefore supported various pension schemes for those who work with us.

As an employee of William Jackson Food Group you have an opportunity to build up a Stakeholder Pension through our arrangement with Legal & General, one of the country’s leading Stakeholder Providers.

The Health Scheme

There is an option to contribute to a healthcare plan. After a qualifying time a range of medical treatments are available to the contributor at a reduced cost.

The health plan covers a wide range of treatment areas from eye tests to illness at home. Some treatment costs are paid in full, up to a maximum in any one year.

Contributions are not fixed, so you may increase your entitlement to treatment benefits by increasing your weekly deductions, which can be made via deduction from your wages.

In addition to the range of medical treatment benefits, the plan includes Personal Accident Protection covering death as a result of an accident and permanent disabilities. This cover has a qualifying period.

An additional bonus is that dependant children residing with you and not employed are covered free up to their 17th birthday.

Childcare Vouchers

The Company also operates a scheme arranged with Leapfrog which enables you to elect to take some of your pay in the form of childcare vouchers, making savings on your tax and national insurance deductions.

The vouchers are widely accepted by childcare providers (not just Leapfrog nurseries).

Payroll Giving

Dropping a coin or two into a collection box or buying a raffle ticket at work are both worthy ways of helping good causes – but there is a much more effective method of donating money to a charity. It’s called “payroll giving” – and if you are a William Jackson Food Group employee and you are paying tax you are eligible to join a scheme specifically set up for this purpose. The way it works is simple.

If you give to charity in the usual way, it is with money received in your salary, that is, money which has already been taxed at source. But if you nominate a sum to donate to a charity of your choice to be deducted directly by the payroll department, before tax, you pay less and the charity benefits more. For every pound you nominate, the tax man, at standard rate, will have to forego 22p to the charity. In real terms you are only donating 78p but your chosen charities get the full £1.

All funds collected in this way are paid by the payroll department on a monthly basis in a lump sum. This way more money goes directly to where it is needed.

 Personal Accident Plan

Also on offer to employees is a Personal Accident Plan currently arranged with AIG Europe. This Personal Accident Plan has been arranged by William Jackson Food Group to help you provide for yourself and your family in the event of a serious accident. The Plan will pay substantial cash benefits for any of the following possible results of an accident.

  • Death
  • Permanent Disabilities
  • Hospitalisation
  • Fractures

The Plan offers flexible cover enabling you to choose the benefits you need, and you are covered wherever you are in the world. Premiums are deducted from your wages for your convenience.
